Top of Slots – Week 38 (25.09.2016)
Motorhead is most likely the best new slot this autumn. This is the third casino game in NetEnt Rocks series. It is a bit less bombastic compared to Guns n Roses slot, but is by far more exciting than Jimi Hendrix.
Yggdrasil’s launch of Double Dragons is also a success. Most of top casinos online include this slot game into their best, most popular or new slots lists. This video slot is not groundbreaking, but has great features and is a strong addition in Yggdrasil casino game portfolio.
It doesn’t go well, though, for all the other new releases in August/September. Quickspin’s Gold Lab is not even close of making it into Top of Slots Week 38. Spectra and SuperFlip perform worse than Gonzo’s Quest. Hall of Gods is back in Top 25. Twin Spin is back in Top 10. The fact that the old classic slots are on the rise is a clear sign that the new slot games are not performing particularly well.
For the first time since we have launched Top of Slots, only 23 slots have fulfilled the criteria of being in Top 25. We had to include more positions from each online casino into our algorithm in order to fill the remaining two spots.
We have seen two clear trends in 2016:
- Casinos focus on 3-4 new slots, 2-3 classics and a couple of jackpot slots. Then they try to position themselves by selecting a totally unique mix of games apart from these 7-8 games. The main goal with it is pretending being different, as these “unique” games are available across most of the brands. In some cases, though, casinos can indeed have someexclusive slot games in their portfolio;
- Suppliers seem to have their months in the spotlight. Play’n Go was extremely popular in the beginning of the summer. Then closer to the end of it, we have seen a sudden rise in popularity of NextGen slots. Now we are in the mini-era of Thunderkick slots.

Suppliers’ Top – Week 38 (25.09.2016)
The launch of new slot Motorhead has led to an increased lead of NetEnt. The margin to Play’n Go will for sure decrease next week. Yggdrasil is back on the 3rd spot, but mostly because of the release of Double Dragons slot.
Week 38 marks the first week without neither Quickspin nor Nextgen slots in Top of Slots. Both of these suppliers have had a really bad summer and continue struggling with releasing strong casino titles. We expect Quickspin and NextGen re-entering the Supplier top soon.
